CHRISTMAS TREES

PREPARE FOR THE SNOW

PREPARE FOR THE SNOW?

For most of Sutton South Ward the usual day household waste is collected is Tuesday but there were some changes over the Christmas and New Year period.

Real Christmas trees were collected from households and flats in Sutton over a two-week period from 18 January.

Please remember to remove all decorations, pots and soil from a tree, prior to presenting the tree as close to the front boundary of your property as possible on your usual collection day. The tree must be visible from the road without obstructing paths and pavements. Residents who live in flats should leave their tree outside their communal bin store.

Alternatively, you can:

  • Take it to the Household Reuse and Recycling Centre (HRRC) at Kimpton Park Way (for recycling)
  • Cut it up and put it in the garden waste bin (if you are a subscriber)
  • Put the tree out alongside the general waste bin on the next scheduled collection day (it will not be recycled)

Please note Kimpton Park Way HRRC will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

We hope you’ll join us in checking in with vulnerable neighbours to see if they need help in cold weather.

Although power cuts don’t happen very often, when they do they can be worrying.  UK Power Networks is the electricity network for London and it provides a ‘Priority Services Register’ for people who might need extra help in a power cut.  Older people, families with very young children, and people with specific medical conditions are among the many people who are eligible to register for free support.  You can find more details and register by visiting ukpowernetworks.co.uk/prioritysupport or calling 0800 169 9970.
